Love Sausage (real name Vasilii "Vas" Vorishikin) is a Russian ex-cop, ex-tank commander, ex-superhero, communist and current owner of a bar in Moscow with a penchant for drinking a beverage made from brake fluid that he passes off as Vodka. His name comes from his foot-long, super-strong, and durable penis, though he cannot run straight whilst aroused.
History[]
He used to be part of Glorious Five Year Plan, a team of five superheroes (including teammates The Tractor, Purge, Red Banner, and Collectivo, all presumably retired) in the days of the Soviet Union. He is on friendly terms with The Boys, especially bonding with Hughie and is one of the very few well-meaning supes.
While on a mission with the Boys, Vas' "vodka" saves him and Hughie from poison laced borscht while the rest of the team are incapacitated by the food.[1] Vas is later called in as reinforcement in the fight against Stormfront, and expresses contempt for corporate-backed superheroes.[2]
Eventually, Butcher hunts and mortally wounds Vas with an enhanced RPG as part of his plans of killing all potential superhumans in an act of genocide.[3] Shortly after, the Legend comments that Vas has been found dead. However, before his death, he was able to send a text message to Hughie, which was a code for an email address. The account subsequently sent Hughie an out of office reply, revealing Vas' suspicions on his fate, as well as a link to data involving his suspicions of Butcher's true agenda.[4]
Personality[]
Genuinely altruistic by nature, Vas is on friendly terms with the Boys, bonding with Hughie especially and is so far the only likable superhero that the Boys know of. He is nostalgic for the Soviet Union's principles and values and of his work in the Glorious Five Year Plan.
Known powers[]
- Superhuman Durability: Love Sausage was able to withstand a direct blast from a rocket launcher. Though fatally wounded, he wouldn't succumb to his wounds straight away.
- Superhuman Strength: Love Sausage is able to break down doors, metal ceilings, and bricks, and lift extremely heavy objects, as well as being one of the few people able to beat down Stormfront. He is capable of tearing people apart and is able to embed his hand into a person's stomach.
- Superhuman Speed: Despite not being as fast as Homelander, Stormfront, A-Train, or other supes with superhuman speed, he is still abnormally fast, kicking Stormfront out of plain sight when before he could react.
Trivia[]
- He seems to be a parody of Marvel's Red Guardian, A Russian superhero who was the answer to America's Captain America. Or in Love Sasuage's case, A Russian superhero who was the answer to America's Homelander.
- Arguably, the character was also based on a Russian folklore hero Grandpa Maxim (Дед Максим) and famous guitar song about his death (Ну вот и помер дед Максим). The character had a huge penis and was fighting Nazi soldiers with it.
- He bares a strong resemblance to the German communist philosopher Karl Marx.
- Despite his super hero name Love Sausage's main powers are his super human strength, stamina and durability, with his name being due to his large penis. In the Amazon series the name relates to the fact that his penis has the ability to grow in length and be used like a tentacle.
