Fiery and scrappy, Stephanie made a poor judgement call by aligning with Russell Hantz. After she found herself on a sinking ship, she managed to survive two Tribal Councils by being a competitive force in challenges. The stigma caught up to her, and she was voted out at Zapatera's third Tribal Council. She lost the next duel to Matt Elrod, thus finishing in 14th place.

Starting the game on Zapatera, Stephanie was the only person eager to align with returning-player Russell Hantz, being aware that Russell had previously made it to the end twice. The two formed an alliance and soon pulled Krista Klumpp into their group as well. After their tribe lost the third Immunity Challenge on Day 8, Stephanie and her allies attempted to convince Julie Wolfe to defect from the Zapatera Six and vote with her alliance against Ralph Kiser. However, Julie decided to remain with her original alliance, helping to split the vote between Stephanie and Russell at Tribal Council.
Though Stephanie would survive the vote over Russell, she and Krista continued to be pariahs around the camp, both unable and unwilling to make inroads with the majority Zapatera Six. At the third Redemption Island duel on Day 12, Stephanie and Krista both volunteered their loyalty to Rob Mariano and Ometepe if they reached the merge, pleasing Rob. Despite this, Stephanie would take another loss after Zapatera lost the Immunity Challenge on Day 13, which saw her only other ally Krista sent to Redemption Island.
With her alliance out of the game, Stephanie was left alone on the Zapatera tribe. When the tribe lost immunity again on Day 16, Stephanie was naturally targeted by the Zapatera Six. However, she soon found an unexpected friend in David Murphy, who advocated that Stephanie was more valuable in challenges than Sarita White. Despite David's lobbying, the rest of the Zapatera Six remained united and sent Stephanie to Redemption Island in a 5-2 vote. The following day, Stephanie dueled Matt Elrod and lost, permanently eliminating her.

- According to a Reddit AMA, Stephanie said she was approached by Paloma Soto-Castillo to compete on Survivor. Paloma was a friend of Stephanie's older sister.[2]
- Stephanie was one of 32 contestants eligible to be selected to compete on Survivor: Cambodia,[3] but was not chosen by the public to be on the final cast.
