- "One of Qi'ra's primary defenses was that Crimson Dawn was too small to be noticed. A bug crawling on the ground, beneath the notice of the great and powerful Empire. But eventually, Qi'ra's actions in her secret war against the Sith drew Palpatine's gaze directly to her."
- ―The Archivist's Holocron
The war against the Sith, also known as the war against the Empire,[21] was a secret campaign orchestrated by Lady Qi'ra, leader of the Crimson Dawn criminal syndicate, to destroy the Sith Lords Darth Sidious and Darth Vader, hoping to free the galaxy from their rule under the Galactic Empire.[14] After realizing it was Crimson Dawn that was moving against them, Sidious moved the Empire to crush Qi'ra's efforts,[13] which were focused upon the rumor[22] that a Sith Lord was frozen within the Fermata Cage. That Sith, supposedly, would be unleashed to fight against Sidious and Vader.[14] In truth, no such Sith existed, with the rumor serving to bring Vader and Sidious close to the Cage so they could be trapped within it.[22]
Qi'ra's efforts ultimately ended in tragedy[1] for the Dawn.[7] The Fermata Cage was destroyed[23] but remained physically intact in the possession of the Sith.[7] However, thanks to Qi'ra's agents Bevelyn and Jon Melton, the Alliance to Restore the Republic learned about the existence of the DS-2 Death Star II Mobile Battle Station,[8] which ultimately led to the destruction of the battle station, along with the deaths of Vader and Sidious, at the Battle of Endor.[24]
