A task force was a deployment of ships or troops.[1]
In the Imperial Navy, three Imperial-class Star Destroyers were considered to be a task force.[2] One Star Destroyer and its escorts also formed a task force.[3]
A Star Destroyer leading a task force could control the fire-control center of each individual ship under it with a computer, thus creating firing patterns and maximizing the use of weapons.[3]
