The kybuck was a creature that had spiral horns and brown fur.[2] Kybucks were native to[3] the planet[4] Kashyyyk,[3] and also inhabited[2] the planet[5] Shili, where they resided in its forests.[2]

In 35 BBY,[6] the Togruta Pav-ti Tano took her daughter Ahsoka Tano on a hunt, which was a custom that took place a year after Tano's birth. During the hunt, Pav-ti tracked a small herd of kybucks, and successfully killed one of them.[2]

The Kybuck Clan, a Jedi Initiate Clan to which Obi-Wan Kenobi and Gehren Rand belonged, shared its name with the creature.[7] Kybuck fur could be used to make clothes. Wolentic Dudge, a resident of Kijimi City, wore a vest lined with kybuck fur.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

The kybuck was introduced into the current Star Wars canon in the 2019 reference book Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker: The Visual Dictionary, written by Pablo Hidalgo as a tie-in to the film Star Wars: Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker.[1] Kybucks made their first canonical appearance in "Life and Death," the first episode of the animated anthology series Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi, released on Disney+[2] on October 26, 2022.[8]

In the Star Wars Legends continuity, kybucks were a species of ungulates from Kashyyyk[9] that were introduced in the first episode of the animated series Star Wars: Clone Wars,[10] which premiered on Cartoon Network on November 7, 2003.[11]
