Essie was Jyn Erso's name for[3] an SE-2 worker droid with masculine programming who worked on the farm of Galen Erso, keeping an eye on the horizon for any intruders. Despite being a menial labor droid, Essie had a very pronounced loyalty subroutine.[1] In 13 BBY,[4] he alerted the Erso family when he spotted Director Orson Krennic's Imperial shuttle approaching the homestead.[2]
