During the Cold War between the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire, the xenophobic Sith Lord Darth Ikoral attacked the fortress of the Sith Lord Senu with his flagship Red Reaper. The destruction of the fortress brought Ikoral's return to the known galaxy to the Empire's attention, and a subsequent attack on another fortress caused Darth Malgus to dispatch a strike team to destroy the Red Reaper.[1]

Annihilation establishes that the Treaty of Coruscant collapsed approximately eighteen months prior, or in 3641 BBY, and as Act III occurs after the treaty's collapse, the act begins sometime between 3641 BBY and 3640 BBY.
