Wookieepedia Celebrates 20 Years!
Wook-20th-logo

Twenty years ago today, Star Wars fans were eagerly awaiting the REVENGE OF THE SITH, exploring the depths of Nar Shaddaa in the KNIGHTS OF THE OLD REPUBLIC II, and beginning to build WOOKIEEPEDIA—the Star Wars wiki. As an ever-growing community of volunteers that anyone can edit, the Wookieepedia project now celebrates its 20th year.

Our encyclopedia officially reached 200,000 articles last month. This was only possible with the work of hundreds upon hundreds of fans over the past twenty years. Most Wookieepedians started off editing with little to no writing or coding experience, but our efforts have brought us closer to the goal of creating the most accurate, comprehensive, and well-presented resource about all things Star Wars.

Since Wookieepedia's tenth anniversary in 2015, we have expanded the breadth, depth, and quality of our documentation of both the Star Wars Legends and the new canon continuities, as well as coverage of Star Wars media and production behind the scenes. Wookieepedia has also been building a more friendly and welcoming community. Informed by our contributors' experiences, we have launched ongoing efforts in revamping our policies to be clearer and more fair, improving accessibility, and developing new editing tutorials.

Since 2015, editor recruitment has advanced on Wookieepedia, with the great majority of the current administrators and review board members having joined those groups in recent years. The past ten years has also seen the progress of the Discussions forum and the launch of twenty-two new collaborative WookieeProjects. These include the Project Stardust initiative focusing on essential topics and Project Pride's efforts to improve the wiki's coverage of LGBTQIA+ topics. Most external links on Wookieepedia now have backup archival links to keep a better record of the ever-changing Internet, and bot systems have automated many monotonous site maintenance tasks such as page archivals for the status article peer review system.

Our work continues unabated. Thousands more pages need to be created, lack citations, await expansion, and could use more images. All the while, the franchise continues to grow and require updates. As we enter our second decade, we would love for more readers to join our ranks! May the Force be with us in the next twenty years… ✨

Tig Fromm was a male Annoo-dat Blue gangster and, as the son of Sise Fromm, heir to the most powerful crime family in the galaxy. Fromm ran the Fromm Gang's operation on Ingo, where he developed a belief that the Fromm Gang could achieve dominance over their rivals through the acquisition of advanced technology and, to this end, designed and manufactured his own droids to keep his secret base functioning and to provide security. However, a series of misadventures with his creations earned him the nicknames Tiggy, Baby-Face Fromm, and Junior Fromm. When Fromm learned that the scientist Lonn Idd had developed a powerful new laser, Fromm attempted to steal it for use by his gang, but was thwarted by the intervention of the droids C-3PO and R2-D2.

Fromm later began his most ambitious project: constructing the weapons satellite Trigon One as part of a plot to overthrow the Fromm Gang's rivals. Fearing that the secret project had been discovered by the local speeder racers Thall Joben and Jord Dusat, Fromm kidnapped Dusat to find out what he knew. Dusat was rescued by Joben, Kea Moll of the Annoo resistance, C-3PO and R2-D2, who later returned to Fromm's base and stole the Trigon One. Hoping to recover the vessel, Fromm captured the young rebels and took them to his father's stronghold on Annoo, where Joben revealed the Trigon One's location. Fromm retrieved the weapons satellite only to discover that Joben had sabotaged it to collide with his father's base. Although both Fromms escaped before the crash, the loss of both the stronghold and the Trigon One effectively brought about the downfall of the Fromm Gang.

Intent on gaining revenge and redeeming himself in his father's eyes, Fromm pursued Joben and Dusat to Boonta, where he planted a thermal detonator aboard Joben's landspeeder, the White Witch, ahead of the Boonta Speeder Race. Sise Fromm, however, had hired the bounty hunter Boba Fett to capture Joben; as Fett chased Joben during the race, the thermal detonator was dislodged and destroyed Fett's own Silver Speeder. Deciding to cut his losses, Fett captured both Fromms and turned them over to rival crime lord Jabba Desilijic Tiure. They were later released after paying off the Hutt. (Read more…)
