Granny Plankton,[1] more commonly known as Grandma Plankton, is Sheldon J. Plankton's paternal grandmother and the grandmother-in-law of Karen Plankton. She first appears in the episode "Gramma's Secret Recipe."

Description[]

"Gramma's Secret Recipe"[]

She looks similar to Plankton, except that she has glasses, dentures, lavender puffy hair, and wears an orange dress that has light green polka dots with pink lipstick.

Unlike most other plankton in the series, she appears to have two eyes instead of just one, but in "Grandmum's the Word," she has one eye.

She has dark green skin, five legs, two small white eyes, glasses, and blonde hair with a pink ribbon in it.

Biography[]

At some point, she married an unnamed plankton and had two sons named Gordon and Silas Plankton.

At some point, she started to make and can chum.

When her husband was old, he was eaten by a whale.

Role in series[]

"Gramma's Secret Recipe"[]

She lives in Shady Shoals Rest Home along with many other elderly citizens, including Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy. Plankton dresses up as her in another attempt to steal the Krabby Patty secret formula. Plankton borrows his grandmother's glasses, dentures, dress, and puffy hair to pretend to be SpongeBob's great grandma.

She later appears at the end of the episode, where she angrily drags Plankton away from the formula and out of the Krusty Krab due to him stealing her belongings as part of a scheme.

"Grandmum's the Word"[]

She comes to the Krusty Krab as it is her 90th birthday and Plankton promised that he would own the Krusty Krab by then. Since he does not, Plankton fools his grandma by getting the Krusty Krew to cover for him. Throughout the episode, Granny Plankton checks out the Krusty Krab. When she asks for a photo with her with the formula, she takes off with a jetpack, fooling everyone.

When she gets back to Shady Shoals, she gets a dream with her ruling the Krusty Krab. While she is sleeping, the Krusty Krew takes the formula back from her.

"Karen's Virus"[]

A picture of her appears in Plankton's kitchen.

"The Ghost of Plankton"[]

She appears at her grandson's funeral and is shocked when Plankton becomes alive. Granny Plankton and the other attendees believe that Plankton faked his death as a cruel joke and start attacking him in anger.

"Something Narwhal This Way Comes"[]

She and the other Planktons gasp in horror when Plankton announces that the nearwhals have arrived.

"Blood is Thicker Than Grease"[]

When Ma and Pa Plankton show that the entire Plankton family can fit in their camper, Granny Plankton is among the family members seen.

Trivia[]

Plankton's grandmother hair error

Hair error.

  • In the original American airing of "Gramma's Secret Recipe," there is an error where after Plankton steals her clothes and hair as part of a scheme, she still has hair, but at the end, she is bald when she comes to take it back. This error was later fixed in American re-runs and on the Complete Seventh SeasonThe Next 100 Episodes, and The Best 200 Episodes Ever DVD releases. However, this is unfixed in some countries, like Israel, Croatia, Poland, and Germany, as well as the Netflix version.
  • Season 11 is the only season where she appears multiple times.
  • In "Grandmum's the Word," she develops a crush on Squidward, and she is even shown married to him when she dreams of world domination after stealing the secret formula.
  • Her having dissimilar designs with different names is akin to Billy Bob GrandPat Star, Margie Bunny Star, and Herb Cecil Star.
  • She was completely unaware that Karen was her granddaughter-in-law.
