Plankton, what have you done to my daughter? You made her cry! You know, she could have been with an ATM! Someone with money! But she chose you, I don't know why!

— E.M.I.L.P. nagging to Plankton, "Single Cell Anniversary"

E.M.I.L.P. (Emergency Mother-In-Law Program) is the mother of Karen Plankton who appears in the episode "Single Cell Anniversary."

Description[]

She is a computer operating system who is similar to her daughter. She makes an angry face when seen and has light-green glasses, a light-green nose, a light-green mouth, and light-green eyes.

Role in series[]

"The Algae's Always Greener"/Krusty Krab Adventures[]

Plankton indirectly mentions her and her husband when he says, "Your parents must have been like, part computer or something."

"Single Cell Anniversary"[]

It is Karen and Plankton's anniversary. Karen has accessed the Krabby Patty secret formula and is willing to give it to Plankton if he gives her something. Plankton leaves.

Later, SpongeBob notices that Plankton needs help and agrees to help him think of something for Karen. Soon, they find out that she is a music lover. SpongeBob teaches Plankton how to sing. Later, Plankton sings a love song for Karen with the help of SpongeBob and Patrick. As promised, she starts downloading the Krabby Patty formula which horrifies SpongeBob once he found out that he inadvertently helped Plankton steal it. However, Karen starts crying, which she is not supposed to be able to do and short-circuits causing him to not get the formula in which SpongeBob replies "Yay" and Plankton replies "No."

Karen turns on again, but instead of showing herself, she shows "E.M.I.L.P.." Plankton asks what that is, and the full title shows up as, "Emergency Mother-In-Law Program." He is horrified to hear it as his mother-in-law then shows up on the screen, complains about Plankton, and wishes that Karen could have married an ATM, who is someone with money.

"Plankton Gets the Boot"[]

At the end of the episode, Karen mentions how her mother, referring to her as "motherboard," warned Karen about Plankton and that she should have listened to her.

"Plankton's Intern"[]

In this episode, Karen says she is going to visit her motherboard, leaving to visit her. Later, in the end, she comes back saying "Sheldon, I'm back from ma's."
