Description[]

Bubble Bass seems to be a stereotypically rude "neckbeard" character. He's an obese, olive green-skinned bass who wears a light orange tank top that barely fits, orange-brown pants, and black horn-rimmed glasses. His lips and other parts of his body are olive-green, while his stomach is a lighter green. He has a slight lisp and breathes very deeply. He also has belly button hair, and tiny chin hairs on his chin. In Kamp Koral, these hairs are absent.

Personality[]

Bubble Bass is unmannerly, arrogant, and rude, in that he lied to SpongeBob about the pickles missing from his Krabby Patty to destroy his confidence and get free food. Aside from this, he also promised (as a lie as he had no intent to do so) to give SpongeBob and Patrick free lunches if they helped pack his things, only to make them do all the work and selfishly eat the free lunches he ordered for them at the end in front of them, displaying no regard to their honest effort.

He has also shown signs of being cowardly, lazy, and lacking responsibility for his actions. At the end of "Pickles," he runs out of the Krusty Krab in fear of the restaurant reprimanding him for deception. In "Moving Bubble Bass," his laziness and selfishness is further shown when he pretends to be injured to have an excuse (also a lie) to not help pack up his stuff. The only reason he moved out in the first place was so he didn't have to do chores.

Bubble Bass owns an extensive collection of action figures. He is very protective of them, getting upset when they are destroyed or mishandled, as seen in "Squid Noir" and "Swamp Mates." He enjoys The Adventures of Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy, owning a lot of merchandise based on the series and watching a marathon of it in "Lost in Couch." Bubble Bass is also a dedicated fan of the fantasy board game Three Deadly Challenges, creating an elaborate recreation of it in his basement. This hobby he has surprises and impresses both SpongeBob and Patrick, who praise his hobby. Squidward dislikes his hobby, as he considers it to be boring and silly.

Bubble Bass has been known to make overly complicated orders at the Krusty Krab, as seen in "Pickles," "Larry the Floor Manager," "Broken Alarm," "Bubble Bass's Tab," and "Sea-Man Sponge Haters Club."

Bubble Bass is heavily critical of things he both likes and dislikes. In "Bubble Bass Reviews," he has a long-running review series, mostly consisting of petty complaints. In episodes like "Hot Crossed Nuts" and "The Goobfather," he is the first to try and approve of the Krusty Krab's new dishes, leading the rest of the customers to want some. Bubble Bass states in "Bulletin Board" that he finds criticism being honest and direct to be more important than whether people agree with it.

Abilities and talents[]

  • Hiding things under his tongue: Bubble Bass hides pickles under his tongue, which drives SpongeBob insane, and he tricks SpongeBob into thinking that he forgot them. Bubble Bass has also hid a woman's car keys.
  • Lying: Bubble Bass can lie very well, tricking SpongeBob and Patrick on numerous occasions.
  • Strength: Bubble Bass is very physically strong, despite his out-of-shape appearance. He was able to throw Squidward around like a ragdoll and push away an entire crowd of people with no effort.
  • Running really fast: Bubble Bass was able to quickly run out of the Krusty Krab before anyone could catch him.

Bubble Bass has also made some minor appearances as a non-speaking background character among other incidentals in a few episodes throughout the series. On Kamp Koral: SpongeBob's Under Years, Bubble Bass has a supporting role as the counselor of the Pontoon cabin.

Major roles in series[]

SpongeBob SquarePants[]

"Pickles"[]

Bubble Bass places a complicated order, which SpongeBob serves. However, Bubble Bass claims that SpongeBob forgot the pickles which was a lie, so SpongeBob goes into a state of shock and takes time off of work, claiming he has forgotten how to make Krabby Patties altogether.

However, SpongeBob later gets his confidence back with help from Mr. Krabs and resumes his role as a fry cook at the Krusty Krab when Bubble Bass returns once again. Again, he orders a Krabby Patty from SpongeBob with pickles, which the latter delivers, only to hear Bubble Bass claim that there are still no pickles despite SpongeBob remembering not to and claiming he didn't, and tells SpongeBob that he has failed again. However, upon staring at his mouth for a minute, SpongeBob realizes that he never forgot the pickles at all and Bubble Bass had been hiding the pickles underneath his tongue the entire time from both Krabby Patties to avoid paying for them and to make SpongeBob look bad, and exposes Bubble Bass of his true colors.

At the mercy of the angry customers, Bubble Bass escapes before they can punish him.

Pretending to be injured so he doesn't have to help, SpongeBob and Patrick move his stuff to his grandmother's home. He then displays his antagonistic nature at the end, as he ate the free lunches that he promised SpongeBob and Patrick revealing he had no intention to keep it. However, he gets his comeuppance when the two yell at him and leave him. Then, his mother is revealed to have been packed in the box. She accuses him of doing this and stuffs him in the same box as she wheels him around, intentionally crashing into things as payback for her being stuffed in a box even though he protests his innocence in the act trying to say that SpongeBob and Patrick did it.

"High Sea Diving"[]

"Swamp Mates"[]

Bubble Bass appears as the main protagonist in this episode. During a playdate with Patrick, his Wonder Whale action figure becomes lost, so he and Patrick go to a swamp to find it. They eventually find the figure in the hands of Hoodoo Guru and Bubble Bass manages to get it back from him. However Hoodoo Guru then chases them down the swamp after Bubble Bass takes his Wonder Whale back from him. Bubble Bass and Patrick eventually wake up back in Bubble Bass's basement only to find out that the whole swamp sequence was just a dream.

He is seen turning inside-out due to a massive hiccup and is also seen telling SpongeBob to put some pickles under his tongue to get rid of his hiccups, which does not help.

"Bubble Bass's Tab"[]

Mr. Krabs becomes conflicted that Bubble Bass has never payed his tab for all the food he eats at the Krusty Krab, so Mr. Krabs orders SpongeBob and Squidward to go to Bubble Bass' house to force Bubble Bass to pay his tab. After SpongeBob and Squidward defeat Bubble Bass in his game, Bubble Bass is forced to work at the Krusty Krab until his tab is all payed up. However the customers get disturbed by Bubble Bass's service at the Krusty Krab and decide to give Mr. Krabs money in order to get his tab all paid up. After his tab was all paid up, Bubble Bass orders more food from the Krusty Krab and puts it on his new tab, much to Mr. Krabs' anger.

"A Place for Pets"[]

He appears as one of the customers who got kicked out of the Krusty Krab when Mr. Krabs decides to make the Krusty Krab a place for pets to eat only. He later disguises himself as a sea bunny along with the other customers who disguised themselves as pets in order to eat at the Krusty Krab.

"The Big Bad Bubble Bass"[]

Bubble Bass wakes up one morning to buy a Pigulon action figure from the Toy Barrel, but finds that Patrick and SpongeBob have already purchased it. SpongeBob offers Pigulon to Bubble Bass out of sympathy, but it has already been chewed up by Patrick, making Bubble Bass cry.

"Sea-Man Sponge Haters Club"[]

Bubble Bass is a member of the We Hate SpongeBob Club. He recalls a story where SpongeBob served Bubble Bass a big meal, but kept finding imperfections with it and took it away. Bubble Bass tries to steal a Krabby Patty back, but SpongeBob jumps into his mouth, and Bubble Bass swallows him. SpongeBob escapes unharmed, to Bubble Bass's horror. When SpongeBob crashes the club meeting, he compliments Bubble Bass and asks if he has been working out.

Be it as it may, they end up sitting in the same area inside of the train. The two are forced to tolerate each other's company like frenemies until they arrive at their destination.

"Blood is Thicker Than Grease"[]

While he is seen eating at the Krusty Krab, someone came to him to say that there is a new potato restaurant across the street. Bubble Bass agreed with her and left the Krusty Krab to try out the yummy food. Later, during when Plankton is working for the Spud Bucket, Bubble Bass tastes something off that the potato wasn't good as they were before. He then told the customers that Plankton was responsible for that horrible chum flavor, making them feel disgusted and had to leave and go back to the Krusty Krab. So did himself.

"Momageddon"[]

He and his mother appears to be customers of a refurbished version of the Krusty Krab: Mama Krabs Home-style Cooking. Mama Bass babies him and Margaret SquarePants serves the food. "Bubble Bass Reviews"[]

He spends nearly the entire episode ranting about "The Patrick Show," saying stuff like "everyone involved with it should be thrown in jail" and "every episode should be tossed into a dumpster and set on fire." Patrick and Squidina catch wind of his criticism and go over to his house to seemingly hurt him, but instead congratulate and thank him, saying they made their own review show on his series, and they proceed to present him footage of it.

"Movie Stars"[]

He makes his first appearance by stealing sausages from SpongeBob and Patrick's tent. When he goes to the Infiniplex, he orders popcorn with butter, but Patrick adds too much butter and ends up soaking him, so he asks for a napkin. Relationships[]

SpongeBob[]

In his first appearance, Bubble Bass and SpongeBob were initially enemies and despised each other. However, in recent appearances, SpongeBob seems to be more friendly toward him. SpongeBob and Patrick even help move Bubble Bass out of his mom's house in the episode "Moving Bubble Bass," until they realized that Bubble Bass was tricking them and had them do all the work.

In Best in Show/The Best Pet/The Pet Show/Four Absorbing Stories, Bubble Bass and the other two Bikini Bottom Pet Show judges most-highly praise SpongeBob's pet Gary.

Despite hating SpongeBob, Bubble Bass helps him get the Krusty Krab turned back to normal in "Larry the Floor Manager."

In "SpongeBob's Big Birthday Blowout," Bubble Bass helps Sandy and the others decorate SpongeBob's house for his surprise birthday party. After he returns, SpongeBob finds the house destroyed and everyone asleep from the party planning. Nevertheless, SpongeBob is excited that his family and friends would do so much for him. SpongeBob deems Bubble Bass and the other wonderful friends and how he's grateful to have them. When Patchy the Pirate arrives and sings the birthday song, Bubble Bass along with everyone else wakes up and properly celebrates a happy birthday for SpongeBob.

In "Bubble Bass's Tab," Bubble Bass mocks SpongeBob and fights him in a game of Three Deadly Challenges.

In "Sea-Man Sponge Haters Club," Bubble Bass is a member of the We Hate SpongeBob Club. He recounts a time SpongeBob kept taking away parts of his meal, leaving him with nothing to eat, and how he chased him down to get his food back.

Patrick[]

In "Moving Bubble Bass," Patrick and SpongeBob help move Bubble Bass out of his mom's basement into his grandma's basement. However, Bubble Bass is manipulating the pair, and has them do all the hard work in exchange for free food. After Bubble Bass reveals he ate the food, Patrick yells at him for breaking his promise.

In "Swamp Mates," Mama Bass invites Patrick over to play with Bubble Bass without his consent. Bubble Bass freaks out about it, especially when Patrick is playing with his action figures. When they get stranded in a swamp together, Patrick's stupidity initially gets on Bubble Bass's nerves. However, they end up working together and become friends in the process, with Bubble Bass being genuinely touched that Patrick considers him a friend. At the end of the episode, Patrick declares it the best playdate ever.

In "Bubble Bass Reviews," Bubble Bass is revealed to have a hatred of The Patrick Show! In response to his insults, Patrick and Squidina create a web series called Review Review, where they embarrass Bubble Bass by displaying his sloppiness and childish tantrums. In "The Patrick Show Cashes In," Bubble Bass is the only one not excited for the premiere of the second season.

In "Helter Shelter," Bubble Bass reluctantly accepts Patrick into his cabin. When Patrick mistakenly re-enacts the legend of King Arthur pulling the sword from the stone, the cabin residents promote Patrick to be their king. Patrick is mean to Bubble Bass, forcing him to dress as a court jester and amuse him, until he’s eventually kicked out.

In "Patrick Takes the Cake," Bubble Bass shows little concern for Patrick when the latter is lost in the woods, only caring about getting the cake Patrick took with him.
