The outcome of this request for deletion was to Delete. Redirected to {{qd}}. {{keep}} has been settled as well. Chenzw Talk 07:58, 1 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Temporarily reversing action - The redirect just messed up the quick deletion category as there are still RfD pages transcluding this template. Chenzw Talk 14:30, 1 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Template:Delete
[change source]—MC8 (b · t) 02:18, Wednesday August 26 2009 (UTC) has nominated this page for deletion for the reason:
- I just came across a QD candidate, SUPERMAN, in which the creator, an IP, tried to tag it for deletion by typing
{{delete}}
. However, instead of the quick deletion template, they got Delete. Now, on most Wikimedia wikis,{{delete}}
almost always redirects to the local wiki's version of{{qd}}
. This standardisation makes it easier for users playing whack-a-mole to tag the articles. After all, all this template does at the moment is add a pretty picture and embolden a word. I trust our administrators enough to recognise a delete vote, even without an orange tag (I hope!). So, let's redirect{{delete}}
to{{qd}}
, and probably do something about{{keep}}
(possibly making it into{{hangon}}
?). It works with{{merge}}
and{{merge-vote}}
, didn't it?
NB: Yes, this is another voting template discussion. But this seems to be a reason that hasn't been adequately discussed yet.
Please discuss this deletion below, but keep in mind that you shouldn't vote on everything and that there may be options that are not just "keep" or "delete", such as merging.

- Delete as per all my votes to delete pointless pretty templates. Majorly talk 02:19, 26 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- It's not pretty. It's ugly. Griffinofwales (talk) 03:02, 26 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

- Redirect to qd - the ip editor was genuinely trying to tag for delete without knowing our jargon. Let's cut the jargon and make delete=delete. --Peterdownunder (talk) 02:38, 26 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Redirect to qd since its the universal standard for speedy so people can tag spam etc without knowing the local language. -DJSasso (talk) 03:06, 26 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Redirect to {{qd}} per DJSasso. Razorflame 08:07, 26 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Redirect to the QD template is the best solution. -- Mercy (☎|✍) 08:09, 26 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Make this a Redriect to {{qd}}. However, the template itself should be moved, perhaps to {{delete-vote}} - if you want to delete this, it should be dual-nominated with {{keep}}, imho. --Philosopher Let us reason together. 16:11, 26 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- This is something which had troubled me /long/ ago. Redirect it to {{qd}} please. Pmlineditor Talk 16:12, 26 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Redirect to {{qd}}. Also, I support redirecting {{keep}} to {{hangon}}. hmwithτ 15:15, 27 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
