Elsa Joubert

Elsa Joubert OIS (born Elsabé Antoinette Murray Joubert; 19 October 1922 – 14 June 2020) was a South African Sestigers Afrikaans-language writer. She became known with her novel Die swerfjare van Poppie Nongena, which was translated into 13 languages. It later became a movie titled Poppie Nongena.[1] She was born in Paarl, Western Cape.

Joubert died on 14 June 2020 in Cape Town, Western Cape of COVID-19, aged 97.[2]
