Branch Whiskey Bar to Pour Its Last Drink on Alberta This Saturday

Say goodbye to the educational whiskey flights

The Branch whiskey bar will pour its last Yamazaki single-malt this Saturday, November 5, according to the Portland Food and Drink blog. Formerly known as Branch Whiskey Bar, it opened at 2926 NE Alberta St. all the way back in July 2009 and had one of the larger whiskey selections in the city at the time.

You still have a few more days to get inside for its duck-fat French fries, “Silence of the Lamb Cheeks” with fava beans, and whiskey flights — always a great option if you’re looking to taste the difference between whiskies side-by-side.

According to the farewell message posted on Branch’s Facebook page, owner Bruce Kaad “is retiring and looking forward to being a full time grandpa.” The PFD blog reports chef Scott Shampine and sommelier Jim Constantine are looking at entering the pop-up game or opening a restaurant of their own.
