Get Excited, Old Metairie: Oak Oven is Coming in 2018

The second Oak Oven will open in the spot that was once Garden Gates Nursery

Oak Oven, the Harahan-based Italian restaurant that serves some of the best pizza and fresh pasta in greater New Orleans, is expanding to the former home of Garden Gates Nursery in Old Metairie in early 2018, according to a report filed by Todd Price at NOLA.com.

The second location is nearly twice as large as the original location, a smartly transformed former Popeyes that gets so crowded that the restaurant stops taking take-out orders sometimes.

The new spot, according to Price, is “in an old raised cottage with 12-foot-high ceilings and antique wood floors.” The Harahan location only seat 39 people, but this spot will “have 70 seats inside, 15 to 20 outside and a banquet room.”

The menu will remain nearly the same as the one at the Harahan location, which means lots of locally sourced ingredients (some grown on site), Italian-style pizzas popping out of a wood-fired oven, fresh pasta, and Italian mainstays like parmigiana, piccata, and marsala.

Get excited, Old Metairie. Get very excited.
