As per tradition, Eater asked a group of journalists, bloggers, and friends of the site to weigh in on the year in food. Here, experts share their dining grievances this year.

Liz Williams, founder and president, Southern Food and Beverage Museum: “Chefs getting cute and trendy thinking that is innovative.”

Elizabeth Pearce, cocktail historian, writer, guide, founder of Drink & Learn: “So many fucking cell phones at the table.”

Jay Forman, food and dining editor, New Orleans Magazine: “The stratospheric elevation in the national press of Turkey & The Wolf. Don’t get me wrong – I am happy for them and I like the place. But it is ultimately a toasty sandwich shop and I think putting it on a level of Best New Restaurant in America is overblown given their preference for Duke’s Mayo and American Cheese. Still, Kudos to them and is good news for the city as well so I try not to hate.”

Nora McGunnigle, freelance writer and founder of NOLAbeerblog.com: “Too many gotdam food festivals.”

Stephanie Carter, editor, Eater New Orleans: “People wearing shorts to restaurants that should probably require a jacket.”
