This is What You’ll Be Eating at Lula, Opening In The LGD This November

Tracking fall’s hottest restaurants

Fall is almost here and that means Eater NOLA is tracking the season’s most anticipated openings. Here are the latest details on one of New Orleans’ hottest upcoming restaurants.

LGD— Long-awaited restaurant and distillery Lula, which is heading to the former Halpern’s on St. Charles as part of the new Prytania Park Hotel development, is hoping to open the first week of November, according to Uptown Messenger.

Robert Morris reports that owner and chef Jess Bourgeois (a CIA grad and Commander’s Palace alum) has just had a ‘massive copper CARL still from Germany’ shipped in for the microdistillery— Lula will specialize in spirits made from Louisiana sugar cane including rum and vodka overseen by owner Bear Caffery— and the renovation’s “industrial feel” (refinished floors, exposed brick) is coming right along.

Meanwhile, the menu is pretty much finished. Bourgeois is rolling out the stops with plans for smoked pompano dip, boudin egg rolls with molasses fig sauce, boiled seasonal seafood, fried cornish hen, rabbit with white beans and an emphasis on sugar cane-based sauces that compliment the restaurant’s signature spirits.
