FAUBOURG ST. JOHN— A new a.m. spot Bayou Breakfast is now open on Esplanade in the former De Blanc Pharmacy from Idolka and Derek Villavaso, owners of Frenchmen venue Vaso and former Freret eatery La Cocinita Escondida. Mrs. Villavaso's family also runs Freret fave Sarita's. Breakfast specialties range from hearty to vegan, with catfish and grits, frog legs, fried cinnamon rolls and chia pudding all sharing space on the menu alongside Latin American specialties, eggy dishes and omelets.
