Arrow Cafe, Apres Lounge, & More New Openings

1.) Quarter: Arrow Cafe
Third-wave freaks take note, there's a new espresso bar in the Quarter called Arrow Cafe, serving Four Barrel Coffee out of San Francisco. The cafe is directly across the street from Armstrong Park in a great little space with a bike and vintage retail shop at 628 N. Rampart. Open daily 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Online here.

2.) CBD: Apres Lounge
Sarah Baird reports that new champagne-focused bar Apres Lounge, has been quietly open at 608 Fulton Street since late March: "The champagne selection is vast and well-thought out, with helpful hints for selecting the right bubbly for your needs and price point. A Dom Perignon happy hour each Friday offers up glasses for $25, giving everyone the chance to feel like a VIP." But the vibe is "eerily similar to Parks and Recreation's Snakehole Lounge."
Open 4 p.m. — 5 a.m., Wednesday through Sunday.

3.) Old Metairie: Aloha Sushi in The Sun Ray Grill
Meanwhile in Old Metairie, Todd Price reports that Aloha Sushi is opening inside the Sun Ray Grill (619 Pink St) this Friday, May 9. Sushi chef/Mississippi native Will Varas and wife Kinsey will do traditional sushi and rolls, alongside "deconstructed" rolls, gluten-free options, and more. They're planning to take over the restaurant from owner Dana Deutsch by the end of the year. Price notes: "They'll keep some popular Sun Ray Grill dishes, but the menu will have more of a Japanese emphasis. A new name and renovation to the building also are planned." The other Sun Ray locations will remain open.

4.) CBD: Singha Thai Cafe
Price also reports that Singha Thai Cafe is also returning to the CBD in a new location, the former Isis Restaurant space at 828 Gravier Street, on May 18. You may recall that the restaurant's former CBD location shockingly collapsed to the ground (no injuries, thankfully) a little over a year ago.
