Your Guide To All Things Bayou Boogaloo, May 16-18

Bayou Boogaloo is happening this evening through Sunday, May 16-18, and if you're going, you know you should leave the coolers at home (as well as any homemade rafts covered in drunk dudes). Sure, the music festival on the banks of the Bayou St. John is free, but that doesn't mean anyone should make it even freer by not spending money on food and booze.

This year brings more a bike pub crawl and bike secon line, more art vendors, 32 musical acts and tons of food vendors including Mid City Pizza, Boucherie, and Ralph's On The Park.

The New Stuff: Will Coviello reports that there are two new bike events, the art market had grown, and the Slow Food New Orleans cooking demos including chefs Ryan Hughes and Alex Harrell will provide food for the VIP area "Canopy Club" (weekend passes SOLD OUT; Friday passes still available).[Gambit]

The Slow Food stuff: Ian McNulty reports that college aged men/woman have been volunteering at Hollygrove Market & Farm and Good Eggs and touring wetlands "to witness how the changes are affecting the environmental cradle of Louisiana food culture" this week.
