WiiWare was an addition to Nintendo's Wii Shop Channel that was added in March 2008 (in Japan), and May of 2008 (in America). It included original titles rather than previously released games. Most of the WiiWare titles were made by indie developers and consisted of a small team. Also, many WiiWare titles were PC ports. The titles were priced between 500 and 1500 Wii Points, or five to fifteen dollars. The Pay & Play system could also be included, and was present in launch title Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King. WiiWare was discontinued on January 31, 2019.
