The Fire Rod is a recurring item in The Legend of Zelda series, first appearing in The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. It is a magic staff that can be used by people with magic power to cast fireballs. The Fire Rod was crafted by an ancient Hylian mage and sealed within the Sacred Realm.

Appearance[]

The Fire Rod is a medium sized rod or scepter, with a red crystal orb on the end.

Games[]

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past[]

The Fire Rod is found in Skull Woods in the Dark World. It is powered by Link's magic meter and can be used to light distant torches and monsters on fire. One of three sources of Fire Magic in Link's arsenal, the other two being the Lantern's flame attack and the Bombos Medallion. Fire Magic is especially effective on many of the enemies found in the Ice Palace. The player can also burn the wrapping on any Gibdos to turn them into Stalfos.

Hyrule Warriors[]

The Fire Rod appears as the Level 1 version of Link's Magic Rod weapon, unlocked by finding it as a sealed weapon in the Eldin Caves during the 2nd mission of story mode, The Sheikah Tribesman, and completing the mission. Its appearance is based on its design from The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, though it is made longer to more resemble a staff. In addition to its classic abilities of shooting fireballs and summoning a flaming pillar, like it does in The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, it can also change shape into a variety of forms; such as transforming into an axe for close range, or a flamethrower-like device and it can even conjure a flaming dragon during some of its stronger attacks or immobilize foes within a swirling vortex of fire. The Fire Rod is useful for crowd control thanks to its explosive attacks and excellent range; however, its defensive capabilities are lacking compared to some of Link's other weapons so learning to dodge is a necessity.
