Kaettekita Mario Bros. (translates to Return of Mario Bros., or Mario Bros. Returns) was a revision of Mario Bros. released November 30, 1988 for the Famicom Disk System for Japan only. The game featured a few revisions, as well as some added features for Mario Bros. fans.
Upgrades from Mario Bros.[]
Gameplay closer to the original arcade game, being that the Famicom/NES versions, while very close to the arcade, were missing features of the original arcade release. It also included some all new levels.
Players' ability to change direction while in mid-air.
Improved graphics and music (due to the FDS' extra sound chip) over both the arcade and Famicom versions.
Option to save players' High Score.
More game modes.
Japanese-flavoured cut-scenes and advertisements. This includes an advertisement for Super Mario Bros. 3, which happened to be released in late 1988 in Japan.
Sponsorship from "Nagatanien", a Japanese food company (an ad for "Mario Curry" appears next to the SMB 3 ad).
