Crystal Shards are collectable items in Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards. They are pieces of the fairies' sacred crystal which was shattered after Ribbon was attacked by Dark Matter in her botched attempt to escape after she and the Ripple Star Queen decided the former must carry the crystal away. Their appearance is a blue octohedral shape in the cutscenes. Once Kirby and his friends find them all, they fight Zero Two, the final boss of the game. The crystal forms the Crystal Gun, which Kirby uses to damage the boss. After Zero Two gets his eye ripped by the crystal gunfire launched at him and his tail is destroyed as Kirby shoots him, the gang escapes Dark Star's collapse, completing the game.
