Coeia was a nation of Alrest that existed before the Aegis War. Not much is known about the nation as it was completely destroyed by Malos during the Aegis War. Survivors of Coeia have a somewhat minor presence in the background of the story of Torna: The Golden Country.

History[]

Destruction[]

Almost nothing is known about Coeia before its destruction. It was embroiled in a conflict with the Empire of Mor Ardain and the Indoline Praetorium. In the year 3564, under order of Praetor Rhadallis, Malos launched an attack on the capital of Omrantha. Malos used his Artifice without restraint and completely destroyed the capital of Coeia and killed the Titan in the process, making the enitre nation disappear under the Cloud Sea. As a cover up story, Rhadallis announced that this was the doing of an armed expedition led by the Praetorium and the Empire of Mor Ardain. This was probably to avoid creating a panic surrounding the power of Malos. Malos had been going in a rampage for over a year at this point.

During the Aegis War[]

As a result of this disaster, most survivors of the downfall of their country were scattered across Alrest. We know that a huge chunk of the Coeian army survived the destruction because they were engaged to different places. A lot of these soldiers are said to devolve into very dangerous and organized bandits that when left without orders start raiding settlements from other nations. During the main story of Torna, Emperor Hugo of Mor Ardain, leaves the party upon their return to the Kingdom of Torna from Gormott to help put down an insurection and disarm Coeian troops that ended up on a nearby archipelago. It is also said during the story that a great amount of refugees from the destruction of Coeia ended up in Gormott. One of the most fearsome mercenary group in Alrest, the "Bloody Lobsters", also originated from Coeia according to a former Coeian spy named MacNeth.

Legacy[]

In the year 4058, Coeia was pretty much a forgotten country from the distant past. It was usually talked about as one of the three Titans that were destroyed during the Aegis War. The most well known legacy of the Coeian people during this time period is actually the Bloody Lobster gang, which survived for over 500 years after the destruction of their original country and retained the incredible brutality of their original selves. The Bloody Lobster gang is actually tied with the past of one of the Blades that can be obtained by the party. Perceval was in fact the Blade of a ruthless member of the gang in his former life and was known to be a murderous monster himself. The new Perceval, now fighting for justice and without memories of his former life actually set out to fight his old gang during his dedicated quest.
