Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown is an air combat game for the Nintendo Switch published by Bandai Namco in 2024. It is the seventh mainline entry in the Ace Combat series.
Gameplay[]
Like the rest of the Ace Combat series, Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown forgoes a realistic flight model in favor of faster, arcade-like gameplay to increase its accessibility to newer players. The player can also choose Novice or Expert control settings; the latter enables the player to execute realistic aircraft maneuvers such as rolls, high-G turns, and Cobra maneuvers. The game features 28 different aircraft, with an additional nine as downloadable content and the F-4E Phantom II offered as a pre-order bonus. As with previous entries in the series, most of the aircraft are licensed from real-world manufacturers, although a set of fictional superplanes are also included. Several aircraft in the game make their series debut, such as various members of the Su-30 family, as well as upgraded versions of older aircraft like the Gripen E and A-10C Thunderbolt II.

As the Deluxe Edition, the game includes 3 additional aircraft sets, 3 additional missions, aircraft skins based on earlier entries and 8 emblems based on earlier entries to the base game but, there is still several additional downloadable aircraft and the Top Gun expansion as paid DLC.
Plot[]
The year is 2019. The Osean government sponsored construction of a space elevator on the Usea continent to help with the reconstruction effort, after the continent was affected by the Ulysses meteor strike. The Kingdom of Erusea, in fears of losing its grasp on nearby countries, used drones to carry out terrorist attacks in Osea, and later declaring war on Osea, claiming that Osea is compromising its sovereignty. Erusea used drones to carry out clean attacks while Osea was criticized for its "accidental" indiscriminate bombings of civilians. The public opinion shifts towards Erusea's favor, and the skies are no longer dominated by human pilots.

Ace Combat 7 received "generally favorable" reviews from critics, according to review aggregator website Metacritic.
