"A Little Learning" is the twelfth episode of the Super Mario World animated series.
Summary[]
Princess Toadstool is now running a schoolhouse in Dome City. As Yoshi and Oogtar show up, Oogtar gives the Princess an apple... which has a Wiggler inside it. As the Princess scolds Oogtar for his prank, Hip and Hop watch this from the nearby bushes and, thinking school might be fun, decide they want to attend. King Koopa, however, refuses to let them go to school, saying that he doesn't want any of his offspring learning to become good citizens. However, as soon as he's not around, Hip and Hop dash off to the schoolhouse anyway. When Hip and Hop explain to the Princess that they want to attend school, the cave-kids' parents object to this. The Princess and Mario, however, are willing to give the Koopaling twins a chance, and they talk the cave-people into doing the same.
While Mario and the Princess are talking things out with the cave-people, Oogtar gives bubble gum to Hip and Hop, convincing them that the teacher favors students who blow big bubbles. Of course, when the Princess comes back in, Hip and Hop's bubbles pop right on them and her, and she tells them this is why she doesn't like gum in her classroom. Later, at recess, Hip and Hop pop the ball the kids are using during a game, forcing the Princess to go get another one. While she's gone, the twins start throwing fireballs at the other students (though Yoshi eats the ones coming towards him). When they start specifically targeting Oogtar, Yoshi eats their backpacks, and the twins get into an all-out brawl against the cave-kid and the dinosaur. The Princess returns to break up the fight, scolds Oogtar because she thinks he started it, and makes them promise to be good friends. Later, she announces to the class that they're going to have a science fair. Oogtar and Yoshi plan to cross an eggplant with a rutabaga, while Hip and Hop begin building what appears to be a baking soda volcano. That night, Hip and Hop sneak in to the school to sabotage Oogtar's project by hiding a Piranha Plant in it, and then place some pipes in their volcano project.
The next day, Hip and Hop go over how their volcano project will work; it's meant to have real lava come out from the pipes they placed inside it, which are coming right from the Neon Castle. Envious of how everyone (including the Mario Bros., who are judging the science fair) likes the Koopaling twins' project, Oogtar adds some fertilizer to his "eggabaga" project, causing the Piranha Plant that Hip and Hop placed in it to grow larger. Unbeknownst to them all, Bowser has noticed the lava-filled pipes going through the Warp Pipe to Dome City, and when he sees that it's going to the schoolhouse, he's not at all happy to learn that his kids went to school against his orders. Going underground, Bowser finds Hop operating the volcano's pipe system and grabs him away from it, causing the lever to swing out of control, making the lava erupting from the volcano go out of control. As everyone flees from the lava-filling schoolhouse, Bowser angrily chases his kids, only to then find himself running from the giant Piranha Plant. The Piranha Plant seemingly eats the Koopas, but Yoshi then eats the Piranha Plant and spits the Koopas into the pipe leading to their castle. The Princess then tells Hip and Hop that they're permanently expelled for causing the lava overflow that's about to overtake Dome City, despite that it was really King Koopa's fault. Mario and Luigi then somehow redirect the lava flow into Bowser's bedroom.
