4x4 Evo 2 is a GameCube video game released on September 10 of 2002.

Gameplay[]

It's similar to the previous title in the series, though includes more trucks and tracks. Many of the trucks present in the game are recreations of real life trucks. It's a racing title that allows the player to customize his truck with a multitude of different parts. While the racing is the primary part of the game, you'll also be able to go on side missions that require you to do strange things such as search for gold.

Modes[]

Quick Race[]

Quick Race randomly selects any truck or SUV and track that you have unlocked to race with.

Free Roam[]

In Free Roam, you are able to explore any track without an objective or time limit.

Hot Lap[]

Hot Lap (or time trial in most other racing games) allows you to race against yourself for the best time on a particular track.

Career[]

Career mode starts you out without a vehicle but with $30K to spend on a vehicle and parts. You start out by buying a stock truck and then compete in races or successfully complete missions to earn cash. You can use this cash to buy performance parts to upgrade your current truck or sell off your truck and part to buy customized team trucks. You can upgrade the part or upgrade your ride.

Missions[]

Missions are an alternate or additional way to earn money, only without racing. To earn money, you must complete all the mission objectives.

Multiplayer[]

Multiplayer allows you to compete against a friend in split screen.

Reception[]

The GameCube version, unfortunately, did not receive ratings as high as it's PC and Xbox ports. It was criticized for its "poor audio" and that it was "frustrating and boring" gameplay. IGN rated it 5.3 (Mediocre) (versus the PC (8.4 (Great)) and Xbox ports (7.1 (Good))).
