A long, long time ago, we dreamed of a book set in a small French village. We want to grease the text with French words, invite the reader to the French crisp flavors and pepper it with French check patterns and pastries. There and then a story about Bibi was born, although at the time she was called Lola and originated from our very earlier poster motifs collection Les Petit with the fine characters; Lola, Francis, Jack and Vivienne. The four friends set out on an exciting adventure that ended with a grand surprise, at least for one of the friends. But that was then…

I wish I could write that the script fell into oblivion in a creaky old dark wood chest of drawers with rusty knobs, but of course we keep track of our scripts and this particular one was called ‘the paris saga’ and was in a rather unstructured folder system, but still in quite clear the folder called ‘maybe-scripts’. We go there sometimes. Reading. Say no, maybe and maybe not. Sometimes I say “Nah phew” and “Oh please, throw it away immediately!” But when we read this “old” text we still liked the characters and the story, it just needs a little bit of work. We kept Madame Owl and stylish Mr. Fox, so incredible big. But all of the four friends had to re-apply for their roles…

In the new edition, Lola was renamed Bibi and Vivienne’s character was named Betty. Francis and Jack fell out of the story, but at least got to be part of our new Paper Friends.

The book is about two sisters, Bibi and Betty, who run a detective bureau. Suddenly one day their friend, the dapper cat Pierre, has disappeared. With the help of Bibi’s gift for solving mysteries and a magical crystal, they embark on an exciting journey through the sparkling snow-covered village.

The story weaves together everyday situations with dreamy elements, humor and lots of French words. The reader will follow the sisters through the streets, meeting odd characters and discovering surprising twists and turns along the way.

In addition to the mystery of the missing cat, the book also explores themes of sisterhood, friendship and birthdays. The story is a heartwarming reminder that sometimes joy can be found exactly where you least expect it…
