While the fried dough trend hit basically every other big city in the country years ago, Miami is now just getting on board with the doughnut thing. Here are two more that are coming our way in the upcoming months.
WESTCHESTER — Popular Ft. Lauderdale doughnut shop Mojo Donuts is finally making its way down to Miami — this time along with fried chicken for Mojo Donuts & Fried Chicken. According to local food blogger Burger Beast, Jimmy Piedrahita is working closely with Shawn Neifeld to open a location on Bird Road sometime this summer. [Burger Beast]
SOUTH MIAMI — Slated to open on May 1, Honeybee Doughnuts will offer up the South Miami crowd artisan doughnuts in the traditional sense (read: plenty of fried dough and sugar) along with gluten-free, vegan, and healthy types of doughnuts by local Karen Muirhead. Expect flavors like maple bacon and white chocolate coconut when it opens at 7388 Red Road. [Miami New Times]
