The team behind Coral Gables Italian mainstay Zucca will add two new restaurants to the neighborhood in early 2025, marking a major expansion for Da Silva Hospitality in South Florida.
The group’s most notable project involves bringing back Hereford Grill, which closed in 2021 amid the COVID-19 pandemic after being in business for 25 years. The classic steakhouse, known as a celebrity magnet in its heyday, will return to its original home at 782 NW 42nd Avenue with a refreshed design and menu. While prime cuts remain the focus, the kitchen plans to incorporate Latin American, Caribbean, and Mediterranean influences. The 250-seat restaurant will feature indoor and outdoor dining spaces and a private dining room for events.
“We aren’t abandoning tradition here, merely reinventing it,” said owner Erasmo Da Silva, who developed the restaurant’s direction after visiting several steakhouses in Buenos Aires.
The group’s second project, Zuccaly, will bring a 9,000-square-foot Italian food hall to the Plaza at Coral Gables. The space will house six dining areas: a pasta and risotto counter, a pizzeria called LaBiga, a grill and seafood section, and Portavia—a market offering both dine-in and takeout options. A bar program focusing on Italian wines, beers, and cocktails rounds out the 190-seat venue.
Da Silva Hospitality began in Venezuela more than seven decades ago and currently operates six restaurants and two hotels there, along with a restaurant in Portugal. Zucca opened in 2017 and marked the group’s first U.S. venture. Both spots are set to debut in 2025.
