Lorraine Kelly has given an update on Phillip Schofield months after his dramatic exit from This Morning.
The second half of the former ITV dream team alongside Holly Willoughby, Phillip left the flagship daytime programme in May last year, after admitting to lying about an affair with a much younger man who worked as a runner on the show.
Holly briefly returned to This Morning but left not long after as horrific allegations of a kidnap plot against her emerged.
While Holly has made her TV return with Dancing on Ice, Phillip left all his usual TV projects behind and has continued to lay low, while ITV and This Morning carried on, denying accusations of being a ‘toxic’ workplace.
Some of Phillip’s former colleagues have remained in contact with The Cube star, including the Lorraine host, who now says she believes people ‘lost their minds’ over the affair coming to light.
She described Phillip a ‘delight’ to work with, ‘generous … not all men are, particularly male presenters, but he was.’
Giving an update on how he’s doing in an interview with The Times, Lorraine said: ‘He’s doing all right and he will be all right, but it’s hard.’
She admitted she was ‘heartbroken’ when the scandal and subsequent fallout happened, saying ‘it’s just a shame for the amazing career that he’s had, for it to end like that.’
It’s not the first time Lorraine has come out in support of Phillip, who was on This Morning for 21 years before his sudden departure after admitting to the ‘unwise but not illegal’ affair.
She told Women and Home Magazine that both Holly and Phillip ‘will be fine … it will all be OK.’

‘They’re good people. I miss them. They’re smashing, they made me laugh a lot and every time I was on This Morning as a guest, they were a delight.’
Lorraine added an anecdote about her time on The Cube, which Phillip fronted, and said that the presenter told her he hadn’t laughed that much in his life.
Meanwhile Holly, 42, is said to have a ‘deeply bruised’ relationship with her former on-screen partner and the pair have not reconciled publicly.
Phillip issued an apology to his co-star last year when his affair was confirmed, with both parties maintaining that she knew nothing about it.
