Botevgrad aims to be the Bulgaria's first Wikipedia city. The project aims to cover every single notable place, person, artefact, and other things in Botevgrad. The collaboration belongs to and can be contributed to by everyone. It involves people and institutions collaborating to share their knowledge through text, photos, video and audio. We intend to not only cover the town but also the surrounding land and municipality. Wikipedia gives our work a global audience. We use QR codes around the town to give people easy access to content in their own language.
The project uses QR codes, a type of bar code a smartphone can read through its camera that takes you to a Wikipedia article in your language. QR codes are extremely useful, as physical signs have no way of displaying the same amount of information and in a potentially huge number of languages.
Go to the application on your phone (or tablet device) where you can search for new applications (e.g Marketplace on Android or the App Store on iPhone).
Search for and download one of the free QR code readers available.
Open the application and point your camera at the QR code. It will scan the QR code (like a barcode in a shop) and take you to the web page.
