"He discovered that there were universes stacked on top of his own..."
The subject of this article comes from an alternate universe connecting to the main timeline of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

"The name's Remy LeBeau. Le diable blanc.[2] But you can call me the Gambit."
―Gambit to Deadpool[src]

Remy Etienne LeBeau is a mutant with the ability to manipulate kinetic energy, displaying a talent for card throwing and using a bō staff. Having eventually taken the name Gambit, he was banished to the Void by the Time Variance Authority, where he joined the Resistance to battle Cassandra Nova and her forces. He and his team forged an alliance with Deadpool and Wolverine to defeat Cassandra and escape the Void.

Biography[]

This is an in-depth biography of Gambit. For an abridged overview, see Marvel Database's article on the same character.

Banished to the Void[]

Life in the Void[]

"Maybe I was born here, it's hard to know for sure."
―Gambit[src]

Remy LeBeau resided in the Void as a kinetic energy manipulative mutant dubbed Gambit with no knowledge of his prior life. While in the Void, Gambit affiliated himself with the Resistance, a group of heroes that opposed the rule of oppressive omega-level mutant Cassandra Nova and her henchmen. Gambit took residence at the Resistance's hideout, where he amassed a collection of liquor. Gambit later fought alongside the Resistance members in battle against Nova and her forces, and witnessed the deaths of Quicksilver, Punisher, Daredevil and Magneto.[1]

Meeting Deadpool and Wolverine[]

Gambit encounters Deadpool in the hideout

"They call me the Gambit."
"Do they? You sure you didn't just really, really want them to, but it never quite worked out?"
―Gambit and Deadpool[src]

X-23 came across an unconscious Deadpool and Wolverine close to the borderlands, so she brought them to the Hero Hideout. Gambit joined Elektra and Blade to greet the new arrivals. Deadpool addressed Gambit, referring to him as the "superhero version of Hawkeye." Gambit introduced himself to Deadpool, who couldn't understand him.

Remy the Gambit

Gambit notices Wolverine drinking his liquor

Gambit noticed Wolverine drinking from his liquor collection, so he charged a card and threw it at the bottle he was holding, destroying it. Deadpool questioned Gambit about his abilities, demeaning it as close-up magic. After X-23 joined them, the Resistance explained how they all ended up in the Void, with Gambit noting that he could not remember his past. Deadpool revealed that he had been inside Cassandra Nova's lair, which the Resistance did not believe.

Remy LeBeau

Gambit learning about Human Torch's fate

Gambit mentioned those who had been killed by Nova, and brought up that Human Torch had gone missing. Deadpool revealed that he knew Human Torch, but when Wolverine disclosed that he was dead because of Deadpool, Gambit threateningly charged a card, demanding to know what happened to Human Torch. Deadpool explained that Nova killed Human Torch, and then tried to motivate the Resistance to help him save his world. Elektra believed that they had a chance to get inside Nova's lair and defeat her once and for all, but Gambit felt that it would only result in all of their deaths.

Gambit born ready

Gambit motivated by Deadpool to fight back

The group discussed using Juggernaut's helmet to block Nova's telepathic powers, although Gambit noted that the only way to obtain the helmet would be to remove Juggernaut's head. Deadpool once again criticised Gambit's accent, joking that his dialect coach was the Minions. The Resistance decided to join Deadpool in fighting back against Nova, with Gambit vulgarly describing how he is ready for the upcoming battle, although Wolverine thought they were all going to die.[1]

Getting an Ending[]

Resistance Riders

The Resistance near Cassandra Nova's lair

"You know how long I've been waiting for this? Whoo! I'm about to make a name for myself here."
―Gambit[src]

The next day, the Resistance, joined by Deadpool and Wolverine headed out to make their assault on Cassandra Nova's compound. As they made their approach, Gambit commented on the difficulty of getting inside, although Deadpool thought he was talking about removing Juggernaut's helmet. Gambit passed Blade a rocket launcher, which he used to destroy the entrance, allowing the Resistance to get inside.

Resistance Assemble

Gambit with the Resistance before the fight

Getting out of the car, the Resistance were immediately surrounded by all of Nova's henchmen. As they stood together, Gambit declared that he was finally going to make a name for himself from this battle, but Wolverine commented that they were all going to die. Gambit simply told Wolverine to make sure people knew about their efforts once they escaped the Void, and requested that he had a drink in his honor. The two sides then charged at each other.

Bloody explosion

Gambit manages to kill multiple henchmen

Gambit blocked an attack from Arclight before fighting against Callisto with his bō staff. As they pushed forwards, Gambit charged up multiple playing cards and threw them at several enemies, instantly defeating them. He then placed charged cards on more enemies and exploded them all at once, killing all of them. Gambit then threw another charged card at some henchmen shooting at him from above. Once Deadpool and Wolverine were inside, Gambit and the others stood guard and continued fighting.

The Resistance vs The Henchmen

Gambit fights against and kills the Russian

Gambit found himself fighting against the Russian, who attacked him with a giant hammer, sending Gambit flying backwards. Gambit told his attacker he should not have done that and charged up his bō staff before he plunged it into the Russian's chest, causing his body to explode as Gambit walked away. The Resistance managed to kill almost all of the henchmen, although they briefly became overwhelmed, with Gambit being tackled to the ground. However, Gambit got back up, and he, along with the rest of the Resistance, were able to defeat the last of their enemies.

Gambit Sparkle Circle

Gambit sees the Inter-Dimensional Portal

The Resistance then looked up and witnessed as Deadpool and Wolverine escaped the Void by jumping through an Inter-Dimensional Portal just before they could be devoured by Alioth.[1] Following their victory in the epic battle, Gambit walked around the compound, passing over the bodies of Psylocke and Toad. He turned around to discover that a new Inter-Dimensional Portal had opened up behind him. Gambit stared into the portal and smiled to himself.[4]
