Cull Obsidian's Chain Hammer was a massive weapon utilized by Cull Obsidian, a member of the Black Order.

Cull Obsidian arrives on Earth with his weapon
In 2018, under orders from Thanos, Cull Obsidian and Ebony Maw went to Earth and arrived in New York City on their Q-Ship. They beamed themselves down to the street and Obsidian used his hammer to blast Iron Man down the street and into Washington Square Park. He chased after, using his hammer to destroy a nearby building and transformed it into a shield to block blasts from Iron Man. Obsidian eventually overpowered Iron Man and knocked him down into the grass, but before he could crush Stark with his hammer, Spider-Man intervened and effortlessly held the hammer back.
Cull Obsidian's hammer is stopped by Spider-Man
Obsidian used his hammer as a massive pair of pliers to trap Spider-Man and throw him away by the park's fountain. He continued to fight Iron Man, once again using the hammer to block his blasts and to strike him, although he could not break through Iron Man's shield. Obsidian then once again used the hammer as pliers, restraining Iron Manon the ground, but before he could land the final blow, he was forced through an Inter-Dimensional Portal created by Wong, stranding him in Antarctica.[1]
Battle of Wakanda[]

Obsidian was rescued by Proxima Midnight and Corvus Glaive and accompanied them to Wakanda. Upon joining the battle there, he violently struck War Machine with his hammer, causing him to fall onto the ground. Obsidian then used his hammer to kill several members of the Border Tribe and Jabari Tribe.

Obsidian then assisted Glaive against Vision, using his hammer to violently strike Vision, sending him flying deeper into the forest. He was then confronted by Bruce Banner in a Hulkbuster armor and used the hammer to take Banner with him for a one-to-one combat. Obsidian used his hammer with proficiency against Banner, managing to rip one of his armor's arms with his hammer. However, after Banner sent Obsidian flying into the protective dome, he died instantly, and the hammer was left behind.[1]

Cull Obsidian charges into battle
Cull Obsidian, from an alternate 2014 timeline, was transported through the Multiverse using the Quantum Realm and brought into October 2023 of the main timeline. He then used his hammer during the battle at the ruins of the Avengers Compound. He attempted to strike Iron Man with the hammer but was stopped by Spider-Man and then killed by Giant-Man. Later, when Stark used the Infinity Stones, Obsidian's hammer disintegrated.[2]
Protecting Collector[]
In an alternate reality, Black Dwarf used his chain hammer to attack Thanos, who grabbed the hammer and smiled before punching him several times. However, Proxima Midnight stopped Thanos and gave herself and Dwarf the advantage, and Dwarf started repeatedly hitting Thanos with the chain hammer. He then stopped as Midnight prepared to execute Thanos.[3]
Zombie Apocalypse[]
In an alternate reality, Cull Obsidian prepared to use his chain hammer against Bruce Banner, but quickly became zombified. As a zombie, Obsidian prepared to attack Banner again, but was killed by ants.[4]
Capabilities[]
Cull Obsidian's chain hammer could transform into a variety of different shapes to fit its users needs in combat.
- Hammer: The weapon's base form was a very large hammer that could be used for melee combat.
- Chain Hammer: The head of the hammer could also be detached from its base and thrown as a projectile with high velocity and momentum.
- Pickaxe: It could transform into a large pickaxe capable of easily destroying concrete.
- Vice: The weapons could transform into a vice like device which he used to smash Iron Man to the ground.
- Claw: The hammer could transform into a claw capable of grasping things.
- Chain Claw: The claw could also be thrown attached to a chain similar to its hammer form.
- Shield: The hammer could transform into a highly durable shield capable of deflecting Iron Man's repulsor blasts.
- Scythe: The hammer could also turn into a hooked scythe like blade.
- Gauntlet Form: The weapon could also transform into a gauntlet worn on Obsidian's forearm.
- Gauntlet Claw: In this form, the gauntlet could form a two armed claw.
- Snare: The claw could also be detached and used as a snare capable of temporarily restraining Iron Man.
- Gauntlet Blade: The gauntlet could transform into a very long and sharp blade.
- Gauntlet Claw: In this form, the gauntlet could form a two armed claw.
