Doctor Elizabeth "Betty" Ross is a scientist at Culver University who worked on Project Gamma Pulse with Bruce Banner. She reunited with Banner years after the project turned him into the Hulk. The reunion led to the United States Army trapping and fighting Hulk. Ross helped Banner in his search for a cure to get rid of Hulk, only for her father, Army General Thaddeus Ross, to have her and Banner arrested. Banner fought off the Abomination, saving Betty and Thaddeus' life, and Betty expressed disappointment in her father before leaving.
Biography[]
Project Gamma Pulse[]
Elizabeth "Betty" Ross was born to Thaddeus Ross and joined her father's military branch, the Army, as a scientist. She worked on the Project Gamma Pulse with Bruce Banner. The project was often visited by Glenn Talbot, who would often flirt with Betty. However, the experiment resulted in Banner getting turned into the monstrous Hulk and having to run away. Thaddeus then confiscated all of the research data, but Betty managed to successfully clone the data undetected.[1]
Reunion with Bruce Banner[]

Years later, Bruce Banner returned to Culver University, and Ross ran up to him excitedly. Banner asked Ross for the data from their original experiment, so Ross explained that while her father, Thaddeus, had their data confiscated, she managed to clone it. She started to take Banner inside, but Banner spot Emil Blonsky watching him and told her to get away from him. Betty ran as Banner became surrounded by the United States Army. Betty ran to Thaddeus and tried to get them to stop, but Thaddeus ordered his soldiers to keep her back. This angered Banner, who transformed into the Hulk, much to Betty's horror.
Betty Ross rushed to safety while Hulk destroyed the army's deployment points. Hulk rushed to make sure she was safe, but she warned him to watch out as Blonsky attacked. She ran to cover, but an Army helicopter which Hulk destroyed flew toward Ross. Hulk quickly grabbed Ross, protecting her from the explosion and taking her away from the university.[1]

Once Ross recovered, she discovered that her father intended to attack an Enclave base. She called Bruce Banner and asked him to protect her father.[1]
Kidnapped[]

Ross was kidnapped by Glenn Talbot and brought to Empire State University, where she shouted for Hulk to save her. Once Ross realized that Hulk was there, she told him to destroy the source of electricity for the box which was holding her. Hulk managed to do so, allowing Ross to explain that she was Thaddeus Ross' daughter, prompting the Hulkbuster to free her and leave. Ross thanked Hulk for saving her. Hulk transformed back into Bruce Banner, who introduced Betty to Rick Jones. Jones told them that Thaddeus had Talbot cornered, and Banner said that it was time to end their conflict. Betty warned Banner that being cornered would make Talbot more dangerous.[1]
Curing the Hulk[]

Ross went with Bruce Banner to Empire State University, where Samuel Sterns warned that the cure would be dangerous. Sterns triggered a transformation, causing Banner to transform into the Hulk while Ross asked him to stay with her. Hulk nearly broke free of his restraints, so Ross climbed on top of him and held him down, yelling for Sterns to activate the cure. Sterns administered the cure, causing the Hulk to transform back into Banner, so Ross climbed off of him. Sterns let slip that there were test subjects, leading to an argument between Banner and Sterns which was interrupted by Banner getting shot with a tranquilizer dart, shocking Ross.
Thaddeus Ross appeared and had his soldiers take Banner and Betty to their helicopter. In the helicopter, Betty yelled at Thaddeus for taking them. Thaddeus started to defend himself when the helicopter shook and a soldier reported that the Hulk was in the streets. They saw that Emil Blonsky had turned himself into an Abomination, and Banner said that they needed to kill it. Betty realized what Banner planned to do and tried to stop him, but Banner jumped out of the helicopter to summon the Hulk.[1]
Duel of Harlem[]
Betty and Thaddeus Ross remained in the helicopter while Hulk and Abomination fought in the streets, until Abomination threw a taxi at the helicopter, sending it crashing into a building. Thaddeus and Betty rushed out of the helicopter, worried about it exploding. They were trapped on top of the building, so Hulk joined them and put out the fire.[1]

The experiment resulted in Banner turning into the Hulk and fleeing. The United States Army wiped the data, but Ross kept a copy in her office. Years later, Ross reunited with Banner at Culver University, but they were attacked by the Army.
