Two Inhumans, Eva and Katya Belyakov, fled to Manama, the capital and largest city of Bahrain, where their activities prompted S.H.I.E.L.D. to send in a team led by Phil Coulson to evaluate Eva and add her to the Index. During the mission, Eva and Katya abducted several agents inside a building. Melinda May took it upon herself to take them out, so she entered the building and killed Eva, Katya, and various Manama natives under Katya's control.[1] Because of the mission, May changed from the warm person she used to be to a cold woman, and although Coulson tried to comfort her, she did not reveal him what actually happened.[2]
Following this mission, May earned the nickname "The Cavalry", although she despised being called that,[3] and Coulson spent time sifting through the ashes with her.[4]
