first watch of the year was full of hot people acting their brains out <3
i don’t know enough about shakespeare to rate this as an adaptation or anything but i watched with my mom and had lots of fun :) she loves this movie so im happy to have finally seen it

the musical scenes are fantastic — the singing is incredible, the shots are at times beautiful but at the very least well lit, and there were a few particular songs that really spurred something in me emotionally. Song to Woody had me thinking we were in for a classic.

confirmation that eggers is technically a masterful director. beautifully shot, lit, sounding, designed.
eggers has a really great ability to do period pieces and make it feel grounded
felt the narrative itself was a little underwhelming and the second half of the movie really felt jumbled and confused but i like the vibes here a lot
main performances were strong but some of the supporting cast (looking at 🫵 Aaron Taylor Johnson) were pretty weak
and uhhhh yeah, i’d be pretty mad if nosferatu cucked me too
