Smile 2

Smile 2

Smile 2 is an improvement on its predecessor. Not a massive improvement, but an improvement nonetheless.

The basic idea of it is practically the same, but everything is more: more violent, more blood, more kills, and way more gory.

Technically I also think that this one has improved a little compared to its predecessor, being the camera work the absolute highlight of that.
It has some excellent shots, mainly the inverted ones and also uses a lot of close-ups of the protagonist's face, so that we can more properly sense and feel her terror.

Just like Susie Bacon in the first one, Naomi Scott carries the movie very well with her character performance, very convincing as a celebrity who has to go through major inner struggles with addiction, trauma, to endure the suffocation and pressure of fame, and of course, dealing with all the evil that the entity does to her.

A mention also to some well timely executed jumpscares (two of them really caught me, I must say...) and a sequence that I really liked, in which we see a bunch of smiling entities (another example that this sequel went further than the first one, by showing several at the same time) attacking the protagonist.
The whole sequence was very well shot and the result kinda creepy.

Overall it's a solid sequel, an improvement to the first one, and if you liked Smile you will Smile again with this one and probably won't be the for the last time...
