This was a VERY hit or miss Scream and it's going to have a very mixed reaction I think. A lot of the plot is just kind of out there, just like the new cast. I get that they're setting up for future but at the same time this is SCREAM! A film where the characters are little bit more interesting than in most other slashers out there. There are two new actresses that are good, first being Emma Roberts and the other being Hayden Panettiere but even those two are nowhere near enough to make this really work.
There are times when this is slightly better than Scream 2. Old cast returning, social media working as a main plot point and Emma Roberts letting herself loose as the killer. Everything else is not very impressing at all and this is a huge fall down from Scream 3. Final scenes in the house and in the hospital helped, but it certainly doesn't save it. WAY too repetitive of a sequel and that's the downfall of it.
