A beautifully crafted tale on the lives of humans battling for the truth but ironically, just as they want to see it. Fassbinder makes the maximum out of the beautiful score and soundtrack (Kraftwerk Scene... wow!), an incredible example of cinematography (random zooms and spins? I loved them all) and strong performances (Margit Carstensen is a legend).
A masterpiece of surreal and grotesque poetry and it has echoes of filmmakers like Tarr, Bunuel, Tarkovsky, Roy Anderson and Lynch! It is a dark and evocative exploration into faith, love, morality, and the emptiness of modern society.
What an amazing painting with bullets, blood and piss! Groundbreaking cinematography, editing, sound and music in a modern mix of spaghetti western and giallo.
