Surprised by the myriad of mixed reactions from my mutuals on here, but I can definitely see why it would be such a divisive movie. The musical element, though I loved it, can be a bit of a turn off for audiences who don’t really love musicals as much as I do.
I feel like the movie’s power rests in the performances of Karla Sofía Gascón and Zoe Saldana (who by the way, is not a supporting role in the slightest). One of my favorites of the year so far. My fingers are crossed that Karla gets an Oscar nomination and makes history.
