My 732nd rewatch of this film and the longest space of time between watches. An entire year had past since I last saw it, and while it felt like I was watching every scene with fresh eyes I still remembered all of the dialogue and the details from my previous watches.
Something new I noticed during this watch though was that one of the categories in the Jeopardy scene that Phil watches was ‘Anatomy’, which links to a deleted scene…

I loved the renditions of ‘N.Y. State of Mind’, ‘The World Is Yours’, and ‘It Ain’t Hard to Tell’, but the National Symphony Orchestra didn’t do Illmatic justice for me. Songs like ‘Life’s a Bitch’ and ‘Halftime’ felt fluffy. However, it was cool to see the behind the scenes footage and the excerpts of Nas explaining some of the songs.
