Look, here's the thing: once you get past the 27-year-old man onscreen and his arrogant defense of why he was the "only choice" for the lead in this adaptation, the film is still just not good. It's going to have its fans and defenders just as its sister film The Greatest Showman did. The cinematic equivalent of a Requiem Mass, and dare I say, the best film ever made. Every shot, music choice, acting moment, and question it raises is thing of wonder. I doubt we'll ever see anything like this for a long time. If ever.
