Unnerving most of the time, but befuddling and even a little boring in some moments. Several horrific images in this film that will be burned into my brain for the foreseeable future, and Oz Perkins really knows how to create a sense of dread. There is an over-reliance on jump scares to cap off several scenes, but most are never cheap and actually provide real shock value. I think the real dissapointment comes in with the reveal of how Longlegs conducts his evil deeds. Some folds of it feel too obvious, while others feel out of left field and unexplained. That is not to say Longlegs is a bad villain. Nicholas Cage’s portrayal of the titular character is boisterous and off-putting, he does a perfect job in the role. But the reveal provided when his web of trickery is finally undone is slightly unsatisfying. Longlegs is a bit of a dissapointment, but the blame may be more on an incredible marketing campaign for a good but maybe not great flick. Still well worth a watch for any horror fan though
