Velvet Buzzkill. Velvet Buzzsaw's biggest downfall is that the pacing is all over the place leaving for a boring overall experience. It couldn't find it's tone, settling for an odd satire / psychological thriller / artistic commentary which leave a messy final product. Bonus points for originality and some cool visual moments during the death scenes, but just felt immediately forgettable. It looks and is shot like one of Netflix's many original TV Shows with plain cinematography which is ironic for a film about art and the fantastic cast for the most part feels wasted. After the fantastic Nightcrawler, I wanted to delve into another dark Gilroy/Gyllenhaal collaboration but my expectations were way too high. It just leaves you with a lot of questions, the biggest one being: Why was John Malkovich even in this movie?
