I'm not sure if I have ever met anyone that said this movie was 'good'. Most people either absolutely love it, or they don't.

Well, I thought it was 'good,' and I am pleased that I watched it.

The directing from Damien Chazelle was interesting, and I liked the colourfulness of the film, even if it was a little too much at some points. The way the film was ordered was impressive, and I did like how it used seasons as time points through the movie, which was fun and creative. However, although the ending was good, it was also quite generic, and it wasn't anything new.

I don't tend to enjoy romantic films or musicals, but I did enjoy some of the musical soundtrack choices. The singing was pretty average, but the instrumental parts for most of the songs were well chosen, and the actors playing instruments did a great job. Ryan Gosling was very good on the piano, so well done to him.

Another reason I enjoyed this film was because I like jazz, being a jazz drummer myself (hence why Whiplash is one of my favourite movies). Sebastian's speech on how jazz music is dying actually meant something to me, and the whole theme of jazz across the film was very relatable and heartwarming. I love that this film encourages jazz, and evolvement of such music, because WE NEED MORE JAZZ.

The musical scenes were often very weird, but also fun and creative at the same time. Some of them were enjoyable, but some weren't.
