When watching Alexander Payne’s newest drama, the cozy winter atmosphere reminded me of holiday visits with my two Grandmas (one each on my mom and dad’s sides, but we did spend a few holidays together). Give RaMell Ross all the money and resources he needs to make everything he ever wants to. Seriously. The feeling that you get when letting a movie like Nickel Boys wash over you is what art and telling stories is all about.
If this movie places in the TIFF people’s choice awards I’m going to scream. It’s such a generic sports underdog movie that really has nothing to say in comparison to other movies in the genre.
