It weirded me out a bit seeing that the main four emotions are uninformed towards the lower mechanisms of Riley's person, it's almost as if they're oblivious to a lesser class within their child. Do we all have capitalist-structured societies in our heads? Do people have specific emotional hierarchies determined by their geo-political place of living?
Once you begin thinking about how the rules of this movie work, it falls apart a bit, but the creativity is undeniably great here. The best parts for me are the moments of debate between all of the emotions and seeing how the writers tailored the dialogue to fit the intentions of each player, and how the emotions' understanding of a situation match Riley's, it's incredibly creative and funny. I also need to give massive props to this movie for simplifying the concept of suppressed emotions in a way that both adults and kids can appreciate. Tugs at my cold, dark heart, it's very special.
