Most of what it does right was already done better in the first, but, for a legacy sequel from the guy who really hasn't been a decent director in a while, this was far more solid than it had to be. It's faithful to the themes of the original, Paul successfully fills the powerful shoes of an actor few ever could while providing his own flavor to it, there are multiple twists I genuinely didn't see coming, and the action was quite fun outside of the first battle sequence. This was ahhhiight and I had a gooood time because I'm a man and I like the roman empire and denzel washington, man.
